The biggest concerns when deploying a VoIP based solution are the reliability of the underlying IP network and the security of the voice-data being sent over that network.
The network bandwidth availability, the stability of the network connection and sending real time voice data over a shared public network can increase the risk of degrading the quality of voice calls or stop them working altogether. Larger bandwidth, 1:1 contention Internet IP Leased line connections may be immune to bandwidth constraints, however few Internet Service Providers provide quality of service guarantees. VoIP.co.uk recommend the use of dedicated voice only network connections under normal circumstances and we will happily answer your queries.
Calls that transit the Public Internet will in many cases be unencrypted. Caution is advised when sensitive calls are being made such as divulging credit card information or tapping out bank details using automated telephone keypad systems. In addition connecting your phone system to the Public Internet increases the risk of Denial of Service Attack or your phone system being compromised resulting in malicious damage or toll fraud.
Our range of network access products could eliminate this uncertainty by providing an encryption point at the customer’s premises if required. Further, we provide a direct access option eliminating call quality service issues. For complete peace of mind, this connection can be backed up with mid call failover onto a public connection under failure conditions.
